My Teaching Philosophy

Teaching dance is so much more than simply transferring steps or counts. What is really being exchanged is expression, stories, and a way of seeing and being in the world. While dance has historically been regarded as an elitist discipline, I believe dance belongs to everyone. I believe good dance instruction is about expansion, not restriction. It should open the student up to new possibilities and not narrow their conceptualization of movement or dance. My teaching philosophy centers on radical accessibility, dance as a tool, and stress-free learning.
